15 Nov Changing sides As an old Horde player starting from the end of Vanilla, I've experienced a lot of content Horde-side and grew a bit tired of it. Now I'm torn between 2 options: 1) Recreating character that I had (this mage, actually, who's name was Xoljin before the transfer) to bathe in that nostalgia. 2) Changing a faction to get new experience. I guess there are other old-timers with the same stories, so what do you guys think? Another question, since I can't remember: was it possible to create characters of both factions on PvE and RP servers? What about RP-PvP?Арканист7 15 Nov

This Shadow Talent Build is the fastest for Leveling Up a Priest Class from 1-60 in WoW Classic patch 1.12. Spamming Shadow Damage DOTs while kite mobs will be the name of the game with this build, having the ability to sustain your health is just a bonus. You will just need to make sure you are stacking enough spirit so you don’t run out of mana often as that will slow down the levelling process drastically.
Once we had our starting point, we began taking stock of what we had in the source code and what we could make available, which included restoring the original development database from archival backups. After stitching various key pieces together, we had a locally rebuilt version of Patch 1.12 running internally. The team could create characters and do basic questing and leveling—and dying, which we did many times. For testing purposes. Obviously.
Nov 15 Loot trading is perfect for vanilla Loot trading is a good thing. It promotes forming close bonds and guilds. For example, lets say you are in a 5 man pug party, and 3 of those party members are in a guild, or are friends. Those 3 can roll for each other and pass the loot to the friend who wants it. ---------------------------------------------------------- Since in vanilla, all casters and healers want the same loot, and all melee and ranged dps want the same loot, you can always justify rolling to increase your friends odds. Now, if there was no loot trading, then pugs get the same chance as you to win loot, and that isn't right. Vanilla is supposed to be about community and friendship, not giving everyone an equal chance at loot. Sure, some people will be inconvenienced by it, but vanilla IS inconvenient, and slow at times, but we sacrifice convenience for more social interaction, and loot sharing will bring friends and guilds together like never before. Blizzard understands what we want, so that's why i'll be playing classic, and you should too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- PS: The loners who try to get through the game with none having their back will have a harder time, and that's how it's SUPPOSED to be in an mmo. cant you see? This is nothing if not an improvement.Windsheared159 Nov 15
Nov 15 Why was it "easy" for Nost, but hard for Bliz During Blizzcon we were told how challenging (at least that's how it came off) it was for Blizzard to create a working version of Classic... but Nostalrius, with no ties to Blizzard, was able to make a relatively bug free version of Vanilla? When I say "bug free" I know there was "a lot" of issues, but nothing an entire team at Blizzard couldn't fix. Wouldn't it be less work?Goró64 Nov 15
Sorry! No addons (unless some are made specifically for the new release of Warcraft Classic). Also, Bidding Is A Thing.  There were bidding wars for the most expensive items on the AH, which you can only find in IF and Org. There might be bidding wars for the rarest of items on trade chat or the realm forums, for things such as the Hide of the Wild pattern. This drops from Dire Maul, Knot Thimblejack, by the way.

The primary goal of Conflict and Strife is to provide an interesting choice in PvP by allowing access to an extra PvP Talent. It’s not necessarily going to be a strong option for PvE. The acquisition of this Essence is via PvP, and is totally optional for PvE-focused players. While there may be interesting PvE uses for some of the choices, it is not expected to be a strong competitor on usual PvE criteria (like total throughput) on every spec.
Nov 15 Professions Hey guys. Can you think of good items that you crafted and lasted for several levels at least? I have played on private servers and with 1.12 itemization, there was barely anything that I could use for even 3 levels. I have leveled up a leartheworker and only thing I remember using was Deviate Scale Belt. Yes, it's very decent and could last a few levels. But later, there are some blue gloves which are fine, but nothing brilliant. And "Guardian Belt"(+6 spirit, +6 stamina) is pathetic for a blue. I remember trying to craft Robe of power as Tailor for a mage but it wasn't that brilliant either, maybe you digress. :) Sure, at level 60, there are nice robes for tailors but before that, do you think using the 1.12 client diminishes the role of crafting professions for leveling? Imagine ability to craft some brilliant item(for each profession) at level 30 that would last full ten levels just like Warrior's Whirlwind Axe, would be decent, no? Warlocks also have similar quest for Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe, but for classes that don't have such class quests would be an enormous boost.Holylr34 Nov 15
15 Nov Playing the Classic Demo UPDATE: The playtime limits on the WoW Classic demo have now been removed. Enjoy! --- When the World of Warcraft: Classic demo becomes available to play at home on Friday, November 2, we will ensure maximum availability to players at home by initially establishing session limits. When the demo goes live, we’ll use a playtime time limit and a cooldown (that starts when you first log in) to help as many people as possible play the Classic demo as much as possible. We’ll start with a playtime limit of a cumulative 60 minutes and a cooldown of 90 minutes. Here are some examples of how that might work: If you play for 30 minutes and then log off for 60 minutes, when you come back you’ll have a fresh 60 minutes. If you play for 60 minutes, you’ll be disconnected and then have to wait 30 minutes before you can play again. If you play for 20 minutes, log off for 20 minutes, then play 40 more minutes, you’ll be logged off and wait 10 more minutes. Our goal is to lift session limits as quickly as we feasibly can after the demo goes live. We will then only reinstate session limits if unexpectedly high demand returns. We will update this post with further information on this, as necessary. Thank you!Kaivax31	15 Nov

You won’t get extra cloth by farming cloth on your tailor, so you can bring any character.   The most expensive cloth will be mooncloth, with a 4 day cooldown.  Grab that pattern from Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. The second best cloth will be runecloth.  That’s best farmed from the ogres in Dire Maul, Twilight mobs in Silithus, and the trolls in Zul’Masher, which is north of Lights Hope chapel.

Over the 15 years since the launch of World of Warcraft, Blizzard has slowly sanded off some of Azeroth's rough edges. The world is still bustling with dangerous dungeons and harrowing raids, but these days it's a kinder, friendlier world. World of Warcraft Classic aims to fix that, to make Azeroth dangerous again--although it retains a few of the modern niceties.

I joined twitch in 2013 with the gamer name of FuriousPaul and I streamed speedruns of the classic Castlevania games from 2013 - 2017. Lately my streams have died down quite a bit due to working on Classic WoW leveling guides every day.  Although I may come on occasionally and play a random game for fun on my Twitch stream.  I talk a lot about WoW speedrunning on my channel, so feel free to follow and hang out to discuss vanilla WoW if you like.  Classic WoW will be my main focus for a long time.  Unfortunately I will have to wait until Classic WoW comes out before I start streaming it.
Gold in World of Warcraft Classic is an integral part of the game. In this article, we will discuss the importance/role of gold in vanilla WOW and how you can obtain it easily. Gold was vastly more important in classic; it gradually became less relevant/powerful as time went on in the current version of the game. It is very tedious (but not difficult) to gain gold in vanilla, which is why many people choose to purchase gold.
Furthermore, we highly recommend you plan in advance regarding the class that you want to play. In the Classic WoW, there were no class specs. Every talent point spent couldn’t be changed without first resetting all of them and the talent point reset was a costly practice. If you already know what you want to play as in the end game – try to develop your talent tree accordingly. This way you’ll be able to save a lot of gold in advance.
14 Nov What we know about Classic so far Release date: Summer 2019. Patch version source: 1.12 - Drums of War ("because it represents the most complete version of the classic experience."). The client is based on a reverse-engineer of the 7.3.5 Legion client. Classic patch version: 1.13 Subscription cost: Included in the current Battle for Azeroth WoW subscription. No separate (classic only) subscription announced. ("We've talked about not wanting to split the community into "Classic" and "Live,") Release roll-out stages: Stage 1: Azuregos, Lord Kazzak, Dire Maul, Molten Core, Onyxia's Lair. Stage 2: Battlegrounds and PvP rewards, Zul'Gurub, Blackwing Lair. Stage 3: Ahn'Quiraj and the opening of the Gates of Ahn'Quiraj event, Tier 0.5, Silithus content, Green Dragons Stage 4: Naxxramas an the Scourge invasion world event. Servers available: (preliminary) - Estimated at 20+ on launch (BlizzCon demo time-period had 20) Additional info: - No LFR/LFD tool. - No in-game shop. - No WoW Tokens purchasable for 'Classic' gold. - No achievements. - No unified server Auction Houses (Alliance+Horde). - No flying. - No phasing or cross-realm tech. - Sharding is not confirmed, although it is a possibility to help with server load during the initial launch. (see post 11 below for clarification on phasing ≠ sharding) - Old character models will be used. - Updated graphics (textures and lighting), however 2004 graphics will be available in the options menu. - Character services are not currently planned, but services like Realm Transfers could be added in the future. - If Realm Transfers are ever added in Classic, there will be no transfers between Classic and Modern WoW servers. - Transmog of Classic WoW drops on Modern WoW characters will not be available. - No instant email (1 hour delay) - Auto-completion of names or quickly clearing a mailbox have been left in. ("someone could create an add-on to do the very same thing") - 16 debuff limit. ("We don't want to mess with the 1.12 data, we don't want to mess with balance") - Improved loot trading stays, no more exploitative ninja looting from trade windows. ("we felt that was worth retaining for classic rather than creating a volume of support tickets that were wholly unnecessary to the experience") - Energy regeneration (such as Rogues) will follow the old method (20 energy p/ 2 seconds) instead of the current 1 energy every tenth of a second. - Colour blind mode from current retail will be available. - Right click reporting from current retail will be available. - Battle.net Integration, download and chat through the Blizzard launcher. - There are no former members of Nostalrius developers working in the WoW Classic project. - There are no plans to change the class balancing of that time. Add-ons: - Currently there's no 100% concrete solution. There won't be a full roll-back to the 1.12 add-on API as doing so would allow nearly complete automation of combat decision making (Bots), however the modern API offers some additional functionality for creating social features that could also undermine the authentic Classic experience. Developers are looking for a middle ground using community and add-on creators feedback. Don't forget to upvote if you find this useful. I'll keep this updated as more info comes in. Nov 15 I Don't Have Time To Reach Rank 11-14 I Don't Have Time To Reach Rank 11-14 and this is perfectly ACCEPTABLE! I actually like the fact that rank 11-14 is extremely hard to get and time consuming. I don't care if it's not about skill, it is very RPG feeling in the fact that, the people who put in the most time and effort spilling the most enemy blood are the ones who get the best rewards. as somebody who will NEVER have a chance of getting those ranks and items because; 1. I do not have time to do it 2. even if I did have time I still wouldn't do it because I mentally could not farm BG's that many hours for 3 months I support the PvP system and think it is great, and acquiring the hugely powerful items is a big reward and a status symbol. in Classic WoW the game is less about YOU and more about your guild. even if you are not the person to get rank 14, or a Legendary item it still feels awesome when your guild mates get them because it will make your guild stronger. LOVE IT!Agonyy107	Nov 15

I recreated my very first character -- a human warrior, because in the last-push alpha test I joined in 2004, there was no Horde -- and logged in. Immediately, I was surprised by how good the graphics actually looked, for being 15 year old textures-on-polygons. Warcraft's bright colors and cartoony aesthetic continue to this day, so all the increased resolution and better-contoured characters in Lordaeron don't really change the game's visual aesthetic.
The original WoW was painful. Mobs took forever to die; one additional enemy in a fight was a pain, two probably meant death. There was a ton of running. Most buffs lasted two minutes, many took reagents, abilities were trained and often out of reach if you lacked the necessary gold. Warlocks had to farm shards, hunters had to carry ammo -- even my warrior did, since in vanilla WoW she can carry a bow and fire arrows herself.

Some even more advanced gold makers might also attempt to monopolize the market. It’s fairly easy if you have quite a bit of gold – just buy out every single item on which you want to have a monopoly on and then reintroduce it to the auction house with your new (and higher) price. However, it’s worth mentioning that monopolization tactic is risky business practice. But where’s high risk – there’s high profit.
Nov 15 Question about the PVP system I am struggling to put the words to my question so let me just throw my 'plan' out there. Please correct me if my assumptions are wrong. Since horde are typically the pvp focused faction, I planned on rolling alliance on a pvp server with horde dominating the server in order to climb pvp ranks easier. My queue times would be instant and there would be less competition when trying to climb the ranks. The way I understand the honor system is that I am competing against others on my faction for a position on the ladder. Less competition would make it easier to climb. I know I will never get rank 14 and don't plan on it. I thought with my limited play time, if I was on a horde dominated pvp server I would cap around rank 6-7. Being on the alliance on the same realm I could get to 8-9 with the same /played. Is this true or do I have it wrong?Jdpp5 Nov 15

Some players choose to take a slightly alternative approach to their gold farming. This approach can take an extensive amount of time and dedication. Many people choose to train a ton of alts, solely for the purpose of making money and multi-tasking. In World of Warcraft Classic, professions are usually paired together. For example, if you’re training alchemy, you will need herbs to create consumables (e.g. flasks) that are used for raiding. An intelligent and observant player could seize this knowledge by creating one alchemy alt and one herbalism alt, swapping items as needed between each other. This fully mitigates the fees by the Auction House, which means your profit is maximised. Another complimentary combination you can use is skinning and tailoring, or cooking and fishing.

Nov 15 Little Test on Class Quest Rewards Hey guys, I did a little test on certain class rewards to check whether they are adequate or not for the level they are obtainable. Paladin - Verigan's Fist is a famous weapon, added probably during the Naxx patch and lot of paladins remember lasting it for long time. Obtainable level is like 22, with party of same level players. And the Mace is equivalent to a level 26 Blue Mace. This means it's not bad! Warrior - Brutal Hauberk is infamous warrior chest. It is obtainable at level 20(as I remember), but it requires running a level 28+ dungeon. And it's mediocre - it compares to a level 24 blue, which is stupid. Whirlwind Axe is a famous warrior weapon which requires a nanny. :D You get level 30 and then pay people money or beg them to help you. This is not even doable with normal party until 35ish. Whirlwind Axe is equivalent to a 35 level Blue Axe, which is decent but still seems to be forcing it. Unless you hire a nanny, being social will probably help you get it at around 35-36 with similar level players. Warlock - Enchanted Gold Bloodrobe is pretty famous. I am not sure when it is exactly doable but is comparable to a level 35ish Robe. I think the verdict is that Paladin's Hammer is by far the best and the reason for it is that it was added later, at the end of vanilla, when Blizzard had more brains. :DHolylr1 Nov 15

Mounts also take up space in your bags, bags which will of course be much smaller.  Every bag space counts.  With no guild banks, and much smaller storage space, your bank alts are going to be essential.  You’ll need to remember to always post everything back to a bank alt, and to remember to get everything from the mail box to the Auction House.  Which is only in Ironforge or Orgrimmar.

Our old friend Quest Helper isn’t updated for the client, but there’s !Questie and MonkeyQuest to help you track available quests and their objectives. The biggest challenge to leveling up in the beta is searching for where the quest objectives are, so if you’re looking to hit the level 30 cap fast — or just the level 5 cap in today’s stress test — you’ll need one of these.
